Why have you chosen to go to Tanzania this year?

I realised that there weren't very many students going and so I thought that I would like to take my son because i've been to, lived in Ghana and i've been to Kenya. I'd like to see the differences and I thought it would be a good experience.

You said you've been to Kenya, do you expect Tanzania to be sort of like it?

I think it is maybe similar but I think the experience will be different, because when we were in Kenya we were mostly there for safari and doing that kind of thing. Like we didn't do anything like interacting with the locals so that should be interesting.

Are you excited about going?

I am VERY excited, yes indeed, because we have made contact with somebody who does the drama program there for street children. So, I would like to see if I could catch up with him and start to plan things to do.

So are you hoping to go there and teach them some things?

I don't think we will have any time to do that. But we can make plans for things they can teach them. But most part I just want to meet up with this guy so he can have plans for the future.

Which teachersare accompanying you to Tanzania?

Mrs. Hirsch, Mrs. Blochlinger and Mr. Murray.

What are you expecting to find when you arrive?

Students who, or a school that needs some support in terms of education and teacher education, so I'm hoping to do some of that.

What sort of things are you going to be doing there, just building houses/ school buildings?

We are going to be helping the school and trying to make the school life better and their rooms better. For example they need roofs and things done on the existing roofs. So we will be doing that and also probably doing some relaxing because it is our and the students summer time.

Do you foresee any problems on the trip, such as food since you are vegetarian?

Yes, it is possible that I will have some difficulty with that so I will take a long this, well actually it is this baby bottle feeder and then you can use it to clean the food. It makes it more healthy to eat and I can eat the vegetables and other things with out getting sick

How are you going to communicate with the students?

I will probably use body language because I am able to that, being a drama teacher. So will communicate that way, using a universal language.
