Mama Lucy Margaret Renju |
![]() |
Mama Lucy Margret was born the 13th of December, 1945, in a village still called Old Moshi Thudinyi in a peasant family. She is Chaga, which are the third largest ethnic group in Africa who live on the southern and the eastern slope of mount Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru. Lucy can speak 3 languages; Kichagga, mother tongue, Kiswahili is her official language and English the semi official and full business language, even if she didn't go to school as a child sense her father was against the education of girls. She met her husband in 1973 and got 4 children, 2 girls and 2 boys and all of them went to the university so they're all very fortunate; now they have four grandchildren. When she grew up she realized she could help others with their childhood. She also wants to help girls build up their courage to say no to older men who will make them pregnant at a young age and might give them HIV/AIDS; educating the young is her way to fight these two diseases. |

Dr. Peter Masumbuko Renju |
![]() |
Dr. Peter Masumbuko or Baba Renju used to be a catholic priest and he comes from the area around moshi in Tanzania. The problem in this area is that not many can afford to send their children to school due to the low economy and the high number of children that most families have. In Tanzania you have to pay to go to secondary school and because almost no one could afford it, Baba and Lucy tried to set up a school particularly for poor children and young girls who wouldn't have a chance to go to school otherwise. They are especially caring for girls at this age because they run a high risk of getting aids. |
